My guess is that you only study when you need to. So when you don't study, it's something that you have down, anyway. When you do study, it's not enough, and not quality enough for the subject, which is why you got C's. Would have been D's or worse with no studying. Just improve studying in your weak areas. You are probably getting A's and B's in the easier classes, so you don't need to study. The more difficult classes require more studying to be successful. One thing you should try is asking you teacher for ways to practice that will be effective for learning the material in their class. IF there is ANY way to take the normal level MATH class, DO IT. My mother tried for 3 YEARS to get me put back a year in math. That did not happen. Even changing schools didn't work. I had to take calculus and pass it to graduate from highschool. I had to have 3 years of high school math IN high school when high school was graces 9 through 12.

It really depends on what you mean by "study"
For many students the term study refers to the time spent the night before the test attempting to learn stuff that they haven't learned yet. A lot of research says this is really a bad thing and reduces performance on tests.
So if that is your definition of study, you are probably learning material as the teacher would hope (like each day in class) and doing the work along the way so there is probably not much need to do other work to get decent scores.
