Lots of people, women included, are having kids in their 30's-40's nowadays.
Pursue your career. You will be able to have kids any time, science is amazing. Unless you want kids asap.
It's your life, but you CAN have both.
I earned a PhD. It took years, and I started after having been out in the working world for a few years, so I was over 25. Moreover, I couldn't have a baby right after I finished my doctorate in my 30s; I needed to work for a while to establish myself.
That was true for most of my fellow grad students. And yet, today, most of us have children.
Having kids won't pay your bills. In fact having kids will create more bills.
Pursue your career now, have kids later. Women today have kids into their 40s. Not saying you have to wait that long - why not establish your career now for the next 5 years and then think about kids?
So, make your choice...and it is a choice...
Having kids wont kill your career. Spending as much time as you want with them will hinder your career though...
Having kids and a career can be difficult but not impossible.
That's your choice. What many people do not realize is that if they like to live a luxe lifestyle and travel a lot, they would be better off NOT having kids. Kids are a pain in the arze.
It is a whole lot easier to integrate a child into your marriage and two careers when you're both more established, more affluent, and your marriage more stable. Most career people do wait until they are in their 30's to have a child. It's a whole lot easier on both parents & child, career obligations, finances, etc, to wait.
Then is it really worth it?
