For hunting and sport, sure. But not automatic weapons of mass destruction. There is no legitimate reason for any to have weapons meant for mass killings.
Most people think an AR-15 is a high-powered rifle. It's not. That vast majority of rifles used for hunting medium to large game are significantly more power. Americans have ALWAYS had access to the highest powered firearms of the time. The American long rifle was superior to the standard issue British rifles during the revolution. Why should this be any different now? Are you suggesting that hunters use low-powered rifles to the reduce their chance of a harvesting game humanely?
